2018 JUNE Programs

Sessions are four weeks long and start the week of June 4, 2018

Kindergarten and 1st Graders      

June 4-June 27    Monday & Wednesday     10:00-11:30 am     Location TBD

 

For kids who will be in kindergarten or first grade in Fall 2018.  

Kids must be confident on a pedal bike (no training wheels) and able to ride on different surfaces. At this level, kids usually sit while pedaling and descending, may not have gears or be changing gears yet, may still have coaster brakes, and may not be familiar coasting on level pedals.

Emphasis on safety first, having fun and  learning skills in a fun and non-competitive environment.

2nd and 3rd Graders 

June 5-June 28     Tuesday & Thursday     10:00-11:30 am     Location TBD

For kids who will be in second or third grade in Fall 2018.  

 

Kids must be confident on a pedal bike and able to ride on dirt trails.  At this level, kids usually sit while pedaling and descending, may not be changing gears yet, may still have coaster brakes, may not be familiar coasting on level pedals.

Emphasis on safety first, having fun and learning skills in a fun and non-competitive environment.

4th and 5th Graders

June 4-June 27     Monday & Wednesday     1:00-2:30 pm     Location TBD

For kids who will be in fourth or fifth grade in Fall 2018.  

 

Kids may be new to mountain biking, will usually sit while pedaling and descending, may not be changing gears yet, may use brakes independently, may not be familiar coasting on level pedals.

Building on safe riding techniques, skills are emphasized in a variety of environments.

BEGINNER - Middle Schoolers

June 5-June 28     Tuesday & Thursday     1:00-3:00 pm     Location TBD

For kids who will be in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade in Fall 2018.  

 

Kids should be able to shift gears, stand while pedaling and descending, be able to coast on level pedals, use  brakes independently. Designed to build skills and to prepare kids (if interested) to race in the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League.  Basic bicycle maintenance is introduced.

Building on safe riding techniques, skills are emphasized and reinforced in a variety of environments.  

INTERMEDIATE - Middle Schoolers 

June 5-June 28    Tuesday & Thursday     4:00-6:00 pm     Location TBD

For kids who will be in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade in Fall 2018.  

 

Kids must be confident coasting on level pedals, independent braking, shifting gears, standing while pedaling and descending.  Kids should be able to ride for at least one hour without stops. Designed for kids with at least one year of racing experience (or be interested in racing) in the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League (AICL).  Basic bicycle maintenance is introduced.

Fitness and competition are introduced while skills and ability are emphasized and reinforced in a variety of environments.  

BEGINNERS - High Schoolers

June 4-June 27     Monday & Wednesday     4:00-6:00 pm     Location TBD

For kids who will be in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade in Fall 2018.  

 

Kids must be confident coasting on level pedals, independent braking, shifting gears, standing while pedaling and descending.  Kids should be able to ride for at least one hour without stops. Designed for high school kids with little or no racing experience.  Basic bicycle maintenance is introduced.

 

Fitness and competition are introduced while skills and ability are emphasized and reinforced in a variety of environments.
